Ribbon blenders are extensively used in the pharmaceutical and other
industries for efficient mixing and blending of material. The equipment
consists of a U-shaped horizontal trough with a special helical ribbon
shaft rotating within. A set of inner and outer helical ribbons cause a
counter- current action for good blending. While the outer helical
ribbon moves the material from the outer end to the centre, the inner
helical ribbon moves the material from the centre to the outer end,
thereby allowing excellent blending of material. The belnder moves the
material both laterally as well as radially to ensure throughly blended
product mix in short cycle time. Paddles are also sometimes used for
blending the material. The blending equipment is suitable for dry mixing
of free flowing powders and blending large volumes of dry solids. Application of Ribbon Blender
