Ultrafiltration or UF water plants make use of cross flow membrane
filtration to treat industrial process water. This method of water
purification is better than the traditional filtration and chemical
treatment system. UF plants have been recognized as an efficient,
economical and reliable system for separation of contaminants and
minerals from water. The water treatment in UF plants is based on
sieving mechanism that rejects particles based on size. The plant uses
special membrane sieving to remove large organics salts, colloidal
silica and microbiological constituents. The pores of the membrane do
not affect desalting and allow ionic salts to readily pass through it.
Operating costs are generally less UF plant, mainly due to reduced
horsepower requirements and power consumption from the low pressure
pumps.Application of UF Plant
